special reminder
The surface treatment of some organic pigments can adversely affect the performance of this additive. In this case, try the same type of untreated pigment.
Application field
paint industry
Product Features and Benefits: DISPERBYK-182 deflocculates pigments through steric stabilization. Due to the small particle size of the deflocculated pigment, high gloss can be obtained, color strength can be improved, and transparency or hiding power can be improved. Due to the reduction in viscosity, flow properties are improved and pigment levels can be increased.
Recommended use
DISPERBYK-182 has a wide range of applications and is suitable for both solvent-borne and water-borne systems. It can be used alone or with DISPERBYK-108 for production comparison
Economical solvent-based pigment concentrates.
Recommended dosage
Auxiliary dosage (as purchased) based on pigment:
Inorganic Pigment | 15-20 % |
Titanium dioxide | 4-5 % |
Organic Pigments | 30-60 % |
Carbon black | 30-60 % |
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the optimum dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing guidance
For optimum performance, additives must be added to the millbase before the pigment.
Premix the resin and solvent components of the millbase, then slowly add DISPERBYK-182 with agitation. Add pigments only after the additives are completely dispersed.
