DISPERBYK-192
VOC- and solvent-free wetting and dispersing additive for liquid masterbatches in aqueous coating systems, printing inks and thermoplastics
materials, as well as the production of colorants for unsaturated polyester systems or gel coats. Particularly suitable for the production of stable effect pigment dispersions.
chemical components
Copolymers containing pigment affinity groups. VOC free (< 1500 ppm)
Typical materialized data
The data given on this data sheet are only typical values, not the technical specifications of the product.
Density (20 °C) | 1.05 g/ml |
storage and transportation
At temperatures below 20°C, the product may freeze. Heat to at least 30°C and stir before use.
Application field
Room temperature curing system
Features and Benefits: The additive deflocculates pigments through steric stabilization. Due to the small particle size of the deflocculated pigments, color strength can be enhanced. In addition, due to the reduction in viscosity, the amount of pigment added can be increased. The additive prevents floating and blooming in complex pigment/paste combinations as well as in rather difficult colors.
Recommended use
Especially recommended for the production of colorants used in gel coats; also recommended for pigment stabilization in gel coats.
Recommended dosage
Auxiliary dosage (as purchased) is based on:
Titanium dioxide | 2-5 % |
Organic Pigments | 10-15 % |
Carbon black | 10-20 % |
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the optimum dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing guidance
For optimum performance, the additive must be added slowly to the resin with agitation. Pigments and fillers can only be added after the additives have been completely dispersed. Dispersion can then proceed, and after the dispersion is complete, more resin can be added if necessary.
paint industry
Features and Benefits: The additive deflocculates pigments through steric stabilization. Due to the small particle size of the deflocculated pigments, high gloss can be achieved, as well as enhanced color strength. In addition, the transparency of transparent pigments and the hiding power of opaque pigments are also improved. Due to the reduced viscosity, flow properties are improved and pigment loading can be increased.
Recommended use
Recommended use | Specially Recommended |
utomotive coatings | Specially Recommended |
Can Paint | Specially Recommended |
Leather Coatings | Specially Recommended |
This additive has been specially developed for the production of stable aqueous effect pigment dispersions (with or without dispersing resin).
Recommended dosage
Auxiliary dosage (as purchased) is based on:
Inorganic Pigment | 5-10 % |
Titanium dioxide | 4-7 % |
Organic Pigments | 15-30 % |
Carbon black | 30-50 % |
Effect pigments | 3-5 % |
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the optimum dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing guidance
For optimum performance, the additive must be added slowly (with agitation) to the grinding resin/cosolvent mixture or to a shear stable aqueous dispersion. In resin-free systems, it is only necessary to mix the additive with water uniformly. Pigments can only be added after the additives have been completely dispersed.
Printing ink
Features and Benefits: The additive deflocculates pigments through steric stabilization. Due to the small particle size of the deflocculated pigments, high gloss can be achieved, as well as enhanced color strength. In addition, transparency is also improved, and flow properties are improved due to the reduction in viscosity, and the addition of pigments can be increased.
Recommended use
Especially recommended for gravure, flexo and screen printing inks. The additive is particularly suitable for the production of stable resin-free pigment concentrates with a pigment content of 30-60%. These pigment concentrates can be used for letdown to standard waterborne binders such as acrylic dispersions or water soluble acrylic resins.
Recommended dosage
Auxiliary dosage (as purchased) is based on:
Titanium dioxide | 2-5 % |
Organic Pigments | 10-15 % |
carbon black |
10-20 % |
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the optimum dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing guidance
Grinding should be done in water or in the presence of grinding resin. Pigments can only be added after the additives have been completely dispersed.
Thermoplastics
Recommended use
Additives are recommended for the production of fatty acid ester-based liquid masterbatches for colored thermoplastics (especially PET).
Recommended dosage
Auxiliary dosage (as purchased) is based on:
Inorganic Pigment | 5-10 % |
Titanium dioxide | 4-7 % |
Organic Pigments | 15-30 % |
Carbon black | 30-50 % |
Effect pigments | 3-5 % |
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the optimum dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing guidance
For optimum performance, the additive must be added slowly to the carrier system with agitation. Pigments can only be added after the additives have been completely dispersed.
