Features and Benefits: BYK-1788 is a zero-emission polymeric defoamer especially suitable for 100% solids UV curing systems, but also for high solids
and solvent-free polyurethane or unsaturated polyester systems. The additive does not affect the surface properties of the coating such as gloss or clarity and is therefore especially recommended for clearcoats
system. BYK-1788 is an efficient defoamer with broad compatibility. It can be used in grinding process and post addition process. The additive is a
A 100% solids, zero VOC defoamer is therefore recommended for 100% UV cured wood and furniture coatings.

Recommended dosage
0.3-0.5 % Auxiliary dosage (as supplied) is based on the total formulation.
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the optimum dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing guidance
BYK-1788 can be added either during grinding or post-addition. If post addition is required, a sufficiently high shear force is required to ensure that the additive is uniformly dispersed.

Features and Benefits: Highest efficiency in defoaming in almost all epoxy resin systems such as cast resins, vacuum infusion or wound systems. The additive also exhibits excellent defoaming performance in acrylate and unsaturated polyester resins, and provides the best defoaming efficiency in styrene-free unsaturated polyester resins. The use of BYK-1788 in some resins can improve surface quality and reduce venting time for composites.
