Features/Applications
Desmodur® N3200 is mainly used as a curing agent for the preparation of lightfast two-component polyurethane coatings, which have excellent chemical resistance and weather resistance, excellent gloss retention and mechanical properties. The main co-reactant selected is polyacrylic acid Ester resin or polyester polyol. Coatings based on Desmodur® N3200 are mainly used as self-drying and stoving lacquers for automotive and industrial finishing, such as wood, furniture and plastics and corrosion protection. Due to its low viscosity, Desmodur® N3200 is also particularly suitable for high solids and coating systems such as floor coatings.
compatibility
Typically, Desmodur® N3200 can be blended with the following products, aliphatic polyisocyanates such as Desmodur® N100, N75, ultraN3300, N3400, N3600 and Z4470; aromatic polyisocyanates such as Desmodur® L/ultraL, HL and IL/ultraIL; polyisocyanates Ester polyols such as Desmophen® 651, 670; polyacrylic resins such as Desmophen® A series products; polyether polyols such as Desmophen® 1380BT. However, the compatibility of the mixture should always be tested before use.
Solubility/Dilution
Desmodur® N3200 can be diluted with esters, ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate; acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cyclohexanone; toluene, xylene , No. 100 mineral spirits or their mixtures.
In general, Desmodur® N3200 has good compatibility with the above solvents, but the stability of the prepared solutions still needs to be tested. Only urethane grade solvents can be used (the moisture content is less than 0.05%, and the solvent cannot contain reactive groups that react with this product, such as hydroxyl or amino groups). Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents.
Desmodur® N3200 should not be diluted below 40% solids. Long-term storage of low solids solutions may result in turbidity and precipitation.
store
- Store in original Covestro airtight containers.
- Recommended storage temperature: 5-25℃.
- Avoid moisture, heat and foreign substances.
General Information: This product is moisture sensitive. Storage at high temperature will darken the color and increase the viscosity of the product. Storage at low temperatures can cause freezing. This type of solidification is reversible by brief heating and does not affect the quality of the product.
storage time
Covestro declares that the product complies with the above "specification or characteristic values" for a period of 6 months from the date of shipment stated on the shipping document, provided that the product is stored in full compliance with the requirements in the "Storage" clause above and handled properly Specifications or characteristic values stated in the Terms (as applicable). The fact that a product exceeds the 6-month period above does not mean that it no longer meets the specifications or the values set in the characteristic values. However, Covestro recommends that products older than 6 months from the date of shipment be tested before use to confirm that they still meet the specifications or set values in the characteristic values. Covestro makes no commitments for products older than 6 months from the date of shipment, and accepts no responsibility or liability for non-conformance to specifications or set values in characteristic values.
Safety
Product Data Sheets are only valid when used in conjunction with their corresponding up-to-date Safety Data Sheets. Any updates to safety-related information - as required by regulation - will only be reflected in the Safety Data Sheets, copies of which will be revised and distributed accordingly. For relevant information, including the latest classification and labelling, application, handling and further safety-related data, please refer to the currently valid Safety Data Sheet.
Additional information
This product is mainly used as a hardener or adhesive for coating materials. Handling polyisocyanates and residual monomeric HDI containing reactive coating materials or binders requires appropriate protection measures mentioned in the safety data sheet. Therefore, these products may only be used in industrial or industrial applications. They are not suitable for use at home (DIY) applications.
