DIN, ISO or ASTM methods broadly describe our analytical procedures. But the actual method used in-house is more precise and we can provide it upon customer request. Modified with 30% salicylic acid in methanol and cooled.
Attributes
VESTAMIN TMD is a low viscosity liquid that can be mixed with water in any proportion at ambient temperature. It is a strong base with a pH of 11.6 in a 0.1 N solution. VESTAMIN TMD is soluble in many polar organic solvents, including esters and alcohols. VESTAMIN TMD undergoes the typical chemical reactions of aliphatic amines, i.e., phosgenes, aldehydes, epoxy resins, organic acids, ketones, etc. The reactivity of each isomer did not differ significantly.
Application field
VESTAMIN TMD exhibits properties similar to hexamethylenediamine, but its unique properties allow it to be used in many special applications. Typical fields of application include the production of curing agents for epoxy resin systems and the synthesis of polyamides and polyurethanes. This product is also required at the beginning of the synthesis of anti-corrosion agents, emulsifiers, vulcanization accelerators, pesticides, printing and dyeing auxiliaries, flotation media, lubricant additives and other products.
epoxy curing agent
Compared to other short chain aliphatic diamines, VESTAMIN TMD has a longer shelf life without extending the final cure time. Products cured with VESTAMIN TMD have a clear appearance, no yellowing, good flexibility and chemical resistance. It can be used with all types of epoxy resins, such as electrical resins, solvent-free and solvent-based varnish coatings.
Shipping and Packaging
VESTAMIN TMD products are available in 20 kg non-returnable cans, 180 kg non-returnable drums or in bulk. We may also supply this product to European users using rail tankers and road tankers, subject to existing exceptions permitted under Annex C/GGVE and GGVS, provided that such transport is subject to compliance with Annex I/RID (CIM) or ADR special bilateral agreement.
For North American customers: VESTAMIN TMD products are available in 44 lb non-returnable cans and 397 lb non-returnable drums.
storage
VESTAMIN TMD is slightly hygroscopic and easily reacts with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to produce carbamates. Glass, stainless steel and similar containers should be used to keep out moisture and carbon dioxide. Under normal conditions only carbon steel should be used, but aluminium should be avoided. VESTAMIN TMD is stable for at least one year if stored below 25ºC in its original container.
