Solubility / dilution
Desmodur® BL 3575/1 MPA/SN can be diluted with esters, ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons such as: ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, methoxypropyl acetate, acetone, methyl isobutyl ketone, toluene, xylene, Solvent Naphtha 100, 150 and mixtures thereof.
Generally speaking, it has good compatibility with the listed solvents. However, the storage stability of the solution formed must be tested. Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents.
Desmodur® BL 3575/1 MPA/SN should not be diluted below 40% solids and solvent naphtha must not be below 60%. Long-term storage of solutions with lower binder content may result in cloudiness and precipitation.
Compatibility
Considering equivalent crosslinking, Desmodur® BL 3575/1 MPA/SN is generally compatible with Desmophen® 651, 670, 680, 690, 800, 1300, VP LS 2971, VP LS 2388, VP LS 2107, RD 181, A 160 , A 165, A 265, A 365, A 450, A 565, A 575, A 665 and A 870 and Desmophen® T1665.
Combinations should always be tested for compatibility.
Properties/Applications
Desmodur® BL 3575/1 MPA/SN is combined with Desmophen® types to form light, weather, chemical and high heat resistant one-component polyurethane bake coating formulations.
Mainly used in automotive OEM and high-grade topcoat industrial coatings (can/coil coatings, etc.).
Compared to Desmodur® BL 3175 SN, Desmodur® BL 3575/1 MPA/SN allows approximately 10°C lower bake temperature without reducing solvent and chemical resistance.
Typical bake conditions without catalyst are, for example, the combination Desmophen® T1665:
160°C 20 minutes
or 170°C for 10 minutes
or 190°C for 5 minutes
The use of metal catalysts can significantly reduce the bake temperature.
For coil coating systems, Desmodur® BL 3575/1 MPA/SN achieves sufficient crosslinking without catalyst addition at temperatures above 232°C.
storage
- Store in the original, sealed Covestro container.
- Recommended storage temperature: 0-30°C.
- Resistant to moisture, heat and foreign objects.
General Information: Storage at higher temperatures can result in increased color and viscosity. Will cause storage to solidify at significantly lower temperatures. By simply heating the product, this curing is reversible without adversely affecting product quality.
storage time
Covestro declares that, within nine months of one day after shipment as specified in the shipping documents, the product will meet the specifications or values specified in the "Specifications or Characteristic Data" section above, as applicable, provided that the product is in full compliance with the stated and The storage conditions referenced are in the "Storage" section above and are otherwise properly handled. Failure during the nine-month period does not necessarily mean that the product no longer meets the specifications or set values. However, prior to using the above product, Covestro It is recommended to test whether such products still exist in compliance with specifications or set values. Covestro does not make any representations about the product after the nine-month period has expired, and Covestro is not responsible or liable for the failure of the product within the nine After the month, the specification or setpoint period is met.
