Product introduction
Elvacite 4026 is a solid granular acrylate-based resin, which is used as a special additive resin for radiation curing (UV or EB) coating inks. The latest polymer chemistry gives Elvacite 4026 a unique UV reactive macromolecular design. It At the same time, it is widely used in radiation curing screen printing inks, wood coatings and plastic coatings.
The latest chemistry contained in Elvacite 4026 is a useful complement to Elvacite 2028, 2013, 2927 that have been used for several years as "inert" resins in UV formulations.
(1) Faster curing speed (1) Reduced shrinkage
(2) Improve chemical resistance and solvent resistance (2) Enhance adhesion to substrates and improve recoatability
(3) Reduce formula viscosity (3) Improve pigment dispersion performance
(4) Improve the flexibility of the paint film
application
Elvacite acrylate-based resin can partially replace the resin prepolymer in the formulation, but the partial substitution ratio cannot be too high. For example, the application in the formulation system based on polyurethane acrylate such as CN 965 or Ebecry 245 is shown in Figure 1: 50 % of the resin prepolymer is replaced, and the others remain unchanged. The formula is suitable for paper substrates, the film thickness is 12um, and the curing lamp source is a medium pressure mercury lamp with a radiation intensity of 80W/cm2.

The comparison results of partially substituted CN 965 and Ebecry 245 are shown in Figures 2 and 3. It is particularly noteworthy that after partial substitution of polyurethane acrylic resin, the viscosity of the system increased slightly, the curing speed increased significantly, and at the same time, the flexibility of the paint film was improved. and solvent resistance were also improved, while partial substitution of the "inert" resin Elvacite 2028 resulted in higher increased viscosity, lower cure speed, and reduced solvent resistance compared to UV-reactive Elvacite 4026.

The same results can be observed after partial substitution of epoxy polyurethane acrylate and polyester acrylate system with UV reactive Elvacite 4026, the results show that its use exhibits a new balance of properties under certain conditions .
Wood Coatings - Polyester Acrylic System
The following will enumerate a mixed formulation system based on polyurethane acrylic resin and polyester acrylic resin. The proportion of these resin prepolymers being partially substituted and the different performance results are shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5.
