Solubility / dilution
Desmodur® ULTRA N3690 can be used with esters, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbon solvents such as: ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, methoxy propyl acetate, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cyclohexanone, toluene, xylene, 100# solvent naphtha and its mixture are diluted. Miscibility with the above solvents is generally good. However, the storage stability of the resulting solutions must be tested. Polyurethane grade solvents should be used (less than 0.05% water, no hydroxyl or amino reactive groups). Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable solvents. Desmodur® ULTRA N3690 should not be diluted below 40% solids. Solutions with low binder content may experience turbidity and precipitation in long-term storage.
compatibility
Desmodur® ULTRA N3690 is generally miscible with the following products. Namely: Desmodur® N100, N75, N3200, N3400, N3300 and Desmodur® Z4470 aliphatic polyisocyanates; Desmodur® L, HL and IL aromatic polyisocyanates; Desmophen® 670 polyester polyols and polyacrylates. However, the compatibility of the prepared solution must be tested. Desmodur® ULTRA N3690 is not compatible with branched polyester polyols such as Desmophen® 651 or polyether polyols such as Desmophen® 1380BT.
Features/Applications
Desmodur® ULTRA N3690 is primarily used as a curing agent component for lightfast two-pack polyurethane coatings with excellent chemical and weather resistance, outstanding gloss retention and excellent mechanical properties. Desirable co-reactants are polyacrylates or polyester polyols. Coating systems formulated with Desmodur® ULTRA N3690 are suitable for air drying or baking for OEM, automotive refinish, transportation, industrial and plastic finishing.
store
- Store in original Covestro airtight containers.
- Recommended storage temperature: 0-30℃.
- Avoid moisture, heat and foreign substances.
General Information: This product is sensitive to moisture, and storage at high temperatures will darken the product and increase its viscosity.
storage time
Provided that the product has been stored in full compliance with the requirements in the "Storage" clause above and handled properly, the product has met the specifications stated in the "Specifications or Characteristic Values" clause above for 9 months from the date of shipment stated on the shipping document or Characteristic values (as applicable). Exceeding the above 9-month period does not mean that a product no longer meets the specifications or the values set in the characteristic values. However, it is recommended that products older than 9 months from the date of shipment be tested prior to use to confirm that they still meet the specifications or values set in the characteristic values. The manufacturer makes no commitments for products older than 9 months from the date of shipment, and does not assume any responsibility or liability for non-conformance to specifications or set values in characteristic values.
