Solubility/Dilution
Desmodur® N100 can be used with esters, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbon solvents such as: methoxypropyl acetate, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cyclohexanone, toluene, xylene, 100# solvent naphtha and its mixture to dilute. Generally speaking, it has good compatibility with the above-mentioned solvents. However, the storage stability of the resulting solutions must be tested. Polyurethane grade solvents should be used (less than 0.05% water content and free of reactive groups such as hydroxyl or amino groups). Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents. Desmodur® N100 cannot be diluted below 40% solids. Solutions with low binder content may experience turbidity and precipitation after prolonged storage.
compatibility
Desmodur® N100 can generally be used with the following products. Namely: Desmodur® N3200, N3300, N3400, N3600 and Desmodur® Z4470 aliphatic polyisocyanates; Desmodur® L, HL and IL aromatic polyisocyanates; Desmophen® 651 and 670 polyester polyols Desmophen® A polyacrylic acid Esters; Desmophen® 1380BT based polyether polyol. However, the compatibility of the prepared solution must be tested. Properties/Applications Desmodur® N100 is primarily used as a curing agent for lightfast two-pack polyurethane coatings with high chemical and weather resistance, excellent gloss retention and mechanical properties. Preferred coreactants are polyacrylates and polyester polyols. Coating systems formulated with Desmodur® N100 are suitable for air-drying or baking for automotive and industrial finishes such as wood, furniture, plastics and corrosion protection. Storage Desmodur® N100 is moisture sensitive and should therefore be stored in an airtight container. This product has a shelf life of at least 6 months when stored in the original container at 5-25°C.
