Product Features
Diphenylmethane diisocyanate monomer with high 2,4'-isomer content, stable against storage discoloration.
Prepolymer formulations for 1K and 2K polyurethane coatings and adhesives and their related applications.
Desmodur® 2460M is an isomeric mixture of diphenylmethane diisocyanate monomers, liquid above 20°C.
Storage and handling are simpler than the 4,4'-isomers that are solid at room temperature (eg Desmodur® 44M, Desmodur® 44MC).
The supply form is solvent-free, a colorless to yellow low-viscosity liquid at temperatures above 20°C, and crystallizes at lower temperatures.

Deal with
It must be ensured that all containers - including empty ones - are kept tightly closed. Most importantly, because Desmodur® 2460M reacts with water to form polyurea and carbon dioxide, it must be prevented from coming into contact with water. During storage, sampling, transfer and processing of Desmodur® 2460M, the ingress of moisture in any form (wet containers, anhydrous solvents, moist air) must be prevented, otherwise the carbon dioxide generated will cause a pressure rise in the storage tank and container high, posing a hazard. Also, the formation of polyurea in Desmodur® 2460M can cause turbidity and solid deposits that can clog filters, pumps and lines.
Storage
- Store in original Covestro airtight containers.
- Recommended storage temperature: 20~40℃.
- Avoid moisture, heat and foreign substances.
Provided that the product has been stored in full compliance with the requirements in the "Storage" clause above and handled properly, the product meets the specifications stated in the "Specifications or Characteristic Values" clause above for a period of 6 months from the date of shipment stated on the shipping document or characteristic value (as applicable). The fact that a product exceeds the 6-month period above does not mean that it no longer meets the specifications or the values set in the characteristic values. However, it is recommended that products older than 6 months from the date of shipment be tested prior to use to confirm that they still meet the values set in the specifications or characteristic values. The manufacturer makes no commitments for products older than 6 months from the date of shipment, and does not assume any responsibility or liability for non-conformance to specifications or set values in characteristic values.
