Features and Benefits: The additive de-flocculates pigments by steric stabilization, and it also imparts a charge of the same nature to the pigment particles. The resulting repulsive effect and
The steric stabilization prevents co-flocculation of the pigments, resulting in color free floatation in systems containing multiple pigments.
Due to the small particle size of the deflocculated pigments, high gloss can be achieved, as well as enhanced color strength. In addition, the transparency of transparent pigments and the hiding power of opaque pigments are also improved. Due to the reduced viscosity, flow properties are improved and pigment loading can be increased.
Recommended use
DISPERBYK-2050 is suitable for medium to high polarity solvent-borne coating systems and is recommended for the production of resin-containing and resin-free pigment concentrates, as well as on
In the system described above, it is directly used for pigment grinding.
Recommended dosage
Auxiliary dosage (as purchased) is based on:
Inorganic Pigment | 10-15 % |
Titanium dioxide | 3-5 % |
Organic Pigments | 20-60 % |
Carbon black | 60-140 % |
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the optimum dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing guidance
or optimum performance, additives must be added to the millbase before the pigment.
When used for grinding with resin, pre-mix the resin and solvent components in the grind, and then slowly add the auxiliaries while stirring, and then add the pigment.
For resin-free grinding, the solvent components and adjuvants in the millbase are premixed with agitation, and then the pigment is added. In resin-free pigment concentrates, high-boiling solvents should be used to avoid drying out of pigment concentrates during storage. Regardless of the method of use, the pigment can only be added after the additive has been completely dispersed.
