 Why Conformal Coatings

 Protect circuit boards from short circuits and conductor corrosion caused by moisture and contamination.

 Moisture accelerates corrosion phenomena and electron migration between conductors, and can cause damage to uncoated boards.

 Anti-scratch

 Mechanical and thermal stress

 Resistant to solvents and stains

 Maintain the insulation of the circuit board

 Types of Conformal Coatings

 Acrylics

 Epoxies

 Urethanes Silicones

material

advantage

limit

Acrylic

Good electrical properties, hard, good mechanical strength, transparent, UV resistant

Solvent resistance
Poor performance, low thermal stability, flammable, medium or high unit price.

epoxy resin

Excellent electrical insulation, strong mechanical strength, strong adhesion, strong chemical resistance, room temperature or heat curing, medium price.

General thermal stability, large exotherm during curing, shrinkage after curing, poor oxidation resistance, containing toxic ingredients, electrical properties and temperature resistance will decrease when flexibility increases

Polyurethane

Good electrical insulation, strong mechanical strength, tough and wear-resistant, strong adhesion, thermal shock, good low temperature stability, moderate flexibility or hardness, moderate price.

Poor high temperature stability, sensitive to moisture and most solvents, not resistant to ultraviolet light, containing toxic ingredients, flammable.

Silicone

Excellent electrical performance, extremely stable at high and low temperature, can provide various hardness products from soft gel to hard resin, water-based, anti-oxidation, anti-ultraviolet, anti-thermal shock, low toxicity, good chemical stability

General mechanical strength, medium to high unit price.
